The character 犠 represents the idea of offering or self-sacrifice. It is part of the word 犠牲 (Gisei) which means sacrifice or devotion.

The Kanji is built from two key elements:

• 牛 (Ushi) meaning ox or cow, representing an offering or gift of life

• 義 (Gi) meaning righteousness, justice, and moral duty

Together, they convey the image of a noble sacrifice, an act of giving made with integrity and selflessness. In ancient times, this character described sacred offerings to the gods, symbolizing devotion and purity of intent.
